Day 1: Online
This will be a self study course. The self guide will take around 8 hours for the online module. You will receive the work book once paid and you can do it any day leading up to event. There will be a zoom meeting the night before at 7:00 PM. A zoom link will be sent out and self study book once completed the registered forms and paid for spot.
Day 2: Field Day
Meet at the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre for 8:00 AM. Drive to location. Starting the trek in and start course. We should be done around 5:00 PM and be back to the vehicles by 6:00 PM.

What if the trip gets cancelled?
If cancelled due to ‘act of god’, your credit will be moved to a future date.
How to complete your registration?
1. Click book now, complete registration form and pay for the fee.
2. Once completed the registration form you will receive a link to register with Avalanche Canada receive your workbook and sign the waiver forms.
Don’t have snowshoes and want to take the course? You can book snowshoe rentals with Wild River Adventure Tours located in Tumbler Ridge, BC. All you have to do is call Randy Gulick and book for the field day Jan. 20, 2024. 780-830-8848. $20/Per day including trekking poles. Located in Tumbler Ridge, BC.
Cancellation Policy
Payment must be made in full to reserve your spot. If cancelled Jan. 1, 2024 and before you will receive a 50% refund. NO REFUNDS after Jan. 1, 2024.
WHAT TO PACK
Please be prepared for the mountain weather, it changes quickly and our winter course will run in anything from -30C to +10C for winter weather. Wind chill can change the temperature dramatically and you will be outside all day on your field day. Dress in layers to be mobile but comfortable with temperatures.

Can I split board, snowshoe, or alpine ski?
Yes. All options are available during this course. Trekking equipment not included.
Where do we meet?
Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre at 8:00 AM. Address: 265 Southgate St, Tumbler Ridge, BC V0C 2W0. We will carpool from Tumbler Ridge to location. About 45 minute drive.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes.
Where are we doing the course?
Perry Creek Road KM 12 on the Bullmoose. Mount Spieker Road. It is an active road so convoying will be best to call road KM’s. Dave will be leading the convoy and will have a radio. This may change due to road maintenance and weather.
What is self study?
You’ll get sent the workbook and online module to your email address to be completed before the field day. You can do this course at your own pace. MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE FIELD DAY. IF NOT YOUR SPOT WILL BE CANCELLED WITH NO REFUND.
Where can I go to the bathroom?
There is plenty of places to stop and go to the bathroom. No outhouses available.
What if the roads are bad?
We have the meeting at the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre at 8:00 AM giving us plenty of time to get there. Please, take your time on the roads. Make sure to have my number in your phone just in case if you can’t make it.
Is the tour cancelled if it is too cold?
If the temperature goes below -30 degrees celsius then we will not run the tour and we can reschedule your booking. This may change as weather changes fast.
Age Limit?
Minimum age to participate is 14, minimum age to get a certificate is 16.
How far will we be trekking?
Approximately 5KM. Can vary on weather and location.
