Imagine embarking on a thrilling backpacking cross country ski adventure that leads you through a stunning winter wonderland. As you glide along the snow-covered trails, the crisp, fresh air fills your lungs, invigorating your spirit.

The path winds through a majestic forest, where towering trees draped in glistening white snow create a picturesque canopy above you. Sunlight filters through the branches, casting playful shadows on the ground and illuminating the sparkling snowflakes that dance in the air.

With every push of your poles, you navigate the gentle undulations, feeling the soft crunch of snow beneath your skis. The serene silence of the woods is occasionally broken by the gentle rustle of wildlife or the distant sound of a stream flowing beneath a layer of ice.

As you make your way deeper into the forest, the anticipation builds for the cozy cabin that awaits you. Nestled amid the trees, it beckons with the promise of warmth, comfort, and the joy of sharing stories by a crackling fire after a day of exploration.

The journey is as breathtaking as the destination, making it an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

MEALS INCLUDED – Northstar Kitchen & Catering will be providing the catering for our event, and they are a local business in Tumbler Ridge, BC.

  • Lunch: A simple yet satisfying sandwich alongside a bag of fresh vegetables, providing a nice crunch and healthy options.
  • Appetizer: The meat and cheese platter is perfect for socializing and offers a variety of tastes.
  • Dinner: The choice between butter chicken with rice and naan or spaghetti with veggie meat sauce, complemented by a Caesar salad, provides something for everyone.
  • Breakfast: Bacon or sausage and eggs in buns, paired with fresh fruit for a hearty and energizing start to the day.
A cozy and rustic dining experience! Reheating meals on a wood stove adds a unique touch, enhancing the flavors while creating a warm atmosphere in the cabin. Simple and easy to pack in our bags and sleighs. 

Day 1:

Saturday.

Join us at the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre at 10:00 AM. This charming centre offers a delightful selection of local treasures, so be sure to take a leisurely stroll and explore.

Afterward, we’ll head to the nearby trailhead, taking our time to enjoy the scenic journey to the cabin.

In the evening, we’ll gather around a cozy fire to celebrate a fantastic day of skiing. 

Day 2: 

Sunday 

Start your morning by the fire, savoring a delicious breakfast prepared on the woodstove. Enjoy your meal with a stunning view of the Murray River, setting the perfect tone for the day.

After breakfast, we’ll take our time packing up, soaking in the serene atmosphere. Once we’re ready, we’ll embark on another beautiful trail to make the most of our day before gathering our gear and heading home. It promises to be a memorable conclusion to our adventure!

Total Fee: $250 + TAX 

Non-Refundable Deposit: $75 (to be paid at the time of booking)

Payment Deadline: Full payment must be made by December 31, 2024.

Refund Eligibility: No refunds will be issued after Jan. 1, 2025.

What will you need to pack?

Packing for an overnight backpacking trip while cross-country skiing requires careful consideration to ensure you have everything you need for comfort, safety, and enjoyment. Here’s a comprehensive list of essentials.

Clothing

  • Base Layers: Moisture-wicking long-sleeve shirt and thermal bottoms
  • Insulating Layer: Fleece or down jacket
  • Outer Layer: Waterproof and windproof jacket and pants
  • Ski Socks: Wool or synthetic ski socks
  • Hat and Neck Gaiter: Warm hat and neck warmer
  • Gloves or Mittens: Insulated and waterproof options
  • Gaiters: To keep snow out of your boots
  • Ski Boots: Comfortable and compatible with your bindings

Camping Gear

  • Backpack: Sturdy pack with sufficient capacity
  • Sleeping Bag: Appropriately rated for the expected temperatures
  • Sleeping Pad: Insulated for comfort and warmth
  • Stove: Lightweight camping stove and fuel
  • Cookware: Pot, pan, and utensils
  • First Aid Kit: Essentials for injuries and emergencies
  • Multi-tool or Knife: For various tasks
  • Headlamp or Flashlight: With extra batteries
  • Emergency Whistle: For signaling in emergencies

Miscellaneous

  • Water Filter or Purification Tablets: For safe drinking water
  • Personal Hygiene Items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable soap, etc.
  • Sunscreen and Lip Balm: For sun and wind protection
  • Trash Bags: For packing out waste
  • Camera or Binoculars: Optional for capturing memories or wildlife observation
