Randy Gulick with Wild River Adventure Tours offers rentals. You will need to call him in advance at 780-830-8848. Participant is responsible for pick-up and drop off of snowshoes. Not apart of fees.  \nIs it beginner friendly?  \nYes\, there are some challenging parts of the trail with navigating your snowshoes/crampons. This tour is suitable for beginners. You should be physically fit enough to walk up and down a few hills\, and walk at a comfortable pace for three kilometres. \nWhere do we park?  \nThere will be a side pull out to park on the road. We will try and take up as little room as possible. If you would like to carpool from TR that can be discussed at the Visitor Centre.  \nHow did we get to location? \nWe will carpool in a line with the guide leading to the trailhead. \nIs the tour cancelled if it is too cold? \nIf the temperature goes below -30 degrees celsius then we will not run the tour and we can reschedule your booking. No refunds due to act of god but can move your credit to a different trip.  \nWhat is the cancellation policy? \nRefund Policy – Due to the nature of outdoor adventures and that we have many upfront costs\, all day adventures are non refundable. We can issue a credit for full amount that guest can use to a future adventure if cancelled more than 48 hours in advance. Let’s keep it simple! \nHere is our starter list for the littles.  \nBaby carrier – Make sure you pack the rain cover just in case it decides to rain on us. A splash suit would work perfect if you have no rain cover.  \nThink layers when dressing your kid. Having a good base layer will help your kid stay warm.  \nShoes – Runners should be the perfect option but just in case the trail is muddy pack rubber boots. We will know the conditions at the trailhead.  \nSnacks and more snacks. We all know our kids eat a ton\, so pack some good hand snacks for the trails. There is a picnic bench at the lookout for the kids to enjoy a lunch.  \nChanging table – There will be a picnic bench at the lookout if you need to change your baby. No outhouses on the trail. A bag to keep the garbage in will be handy when it comes to pack in what you pack out. A perfect hide out from the rain if needed and a place to keep your gear dry. We’ll be backpacking our own gear in\, tents\, food\, etc.. It is roughly around 4-6 hours of walking to get there. We will be crossing some creeks along the way since it will be early conditions. Once arrived at Beattie Lake you will get the whole day/night to set up tent and plenty of time to enjoy the lake. \n \nDay 3 –  June 8\, 2024 – We spend the day exploring around Beattie Lake. The day hikes will be around 5-7 KM leaving us enough time to enjoy a lunch on top of a mountain and making our way down for an evening of relaxing near the water. Hiking is rated moderate. \n \nDay 4 – June 9\, 2024 – We spend the day walking around the lake and enjoying what the day has to offer. \n \nDay 5 – June 10\, 2024 – We will be leaving Beattie Lake for 11:00 AM giving us plenty of time to enjoy coffee and pack our bags for the trek home. Once we get to the lodge we will be transported to our vehicles. \n \nFrequently Asked Questions \nHow is the water? \nWith it being early in the season I can’t promise the lake will be crystal clear. When we get to Beattie Lake there is an outhouse about 20 M away from the cabin. \nHow many guides will be there? \nOne experienced guide will be present during the trip to provide support and knowledge. An In-Reach Satellite communication device will be carried which provides two-way messaging and contact to helicopter support in the unlikely event an emergency occurs\, and ranch will be aware of our whereabouts for the duration of the trip so if an emergency happens we will know. \nCan we day hike? \nThere is no leaving the group for day hikes\, or other adventuring. We try to stick to a group as best as possible. Even on the trail\, we must all see each other unless you note the guide otherwise. We will be having a desinated day for hiking. \nWill you send out a detailed itinerary? \nOn a trip like this it is good to know that weather can be a deciding factor on what we do in a day. \nWhat about bears & wildlife? \nWe follow great bear safety as travelling in a group to start. There are small and big game on the trail. We share the trails with them. Porcupines have been a problem on previous trips. Make sure your supplies are in dry bags. The cabin can be locked at night. A gun will be carried by guide to provide safety. \nAre dogs allowed? \nThere are no other dogs allowed on this trip. Only guides are allowed to bring their dogs. \nWhat if the road to the gate is impossible to get to?  \nThis happens more often in the mountains as the weather can change fast. If the road gets too bad we will be getting the ranch truck to get us there with chains. \nIs there cell service? \nThere is no cell service on the trail but there is a phone you can use at the lodge. If you have an inreach/communication device it’s always good practice to bring one in the mountains. \nDo you have to tip the guides?  \nThe success of each trip depends on our excellent staff. Separate.  \nIs it beginner friendly?  \nYes\, there are some challenging parts of the trail with navigating your snowshoes/crampons. This tour is suitable for beginners. You should be physically fit enough to walk up and down a few hills\, and walk at a comfortable pace for three kilometres. The first part of the tour is a mini skills session to get you trekking on your own in minutes! \nCan your child join in on the fun? \nYes\, we love having the whole family out. Minimum age limit is 11.  \nWhere do we park?  \nThere will be a little side pull out on the right to park on the road. We will try and take up as little room as possible. If you would like to carpool from TR that can be discussed at the Visitor Centre.  \nHow did we get to location? \nWe will carpool in a line with the guide leading to the trailhead. \nIs the tour cancelled if it is too cold? \nIf the temperature goes below -30 degrees celsius then we will not run the tour and we can reschedule your booking. No refunds due to act of god but can move your credit to a different trip.  \nWhat is the cancellation policy? \nRefund Policy – Due to the nature of outdoor adventures and that we have many upfront costs\, all day adventures are non refundable. A 2L bladder and 1 L size water bottles will be enough for carrying. Once at the lake I highly recommend filtering the lake water as I have seen it very mercury in colour and it all depends on the weather. The rivers can come up and turn the river brown and grey from runoff. Always safe to carry a filter when going into the backcountry. \nHow many meals do we need to pack? Meals not included.  \nDinner: 7 \nLunch: 6 \nBreakfast: 7 \nIt is ALWAYS a great idea to pack more food on a trip like this. An extra meal of each is recommended. The plane may not be able to land or come that day so it is a great practice when doing float plane trips to make sure you are packed for all circumstances. \nWhere do we meet? \nMuncho Lake\, BC – July 6\, 2024 – Check in after 3:00 PM. \nDo we have fires every night? \nIt all depends on what the current situation is with wildfires. It’s great to know before you go\, when it comes to fire bans. \nIs liquor allowed?  \nYes\, but not supplied. \nWhere do we go to the bathroom? \nYou’ll be required to create catholes. Catholes should be dug at least 200 feet (60M) from water sources\, walking trails\, or campsites. Always use the buddy system when adventuring away from camp. Carry bear spray. The rule of the trip is if you go to the bathroom you come back with a stick for the fire. An In-Reach Satellite communication device will be carried which provides two-way messaging and contact to helicopter support in the unlikely event an emergency occurs\, and a local helicopter company will be aware of our whereabouts for the duration of the trip. \nCan we day hike? \nThere is no leaving the group for day hikes\, or other adventuring. We try to stick to a group as best as possible. Even on the trail\, we must all see each other unless you note the guide otherwise. We will be hiking around the lake giving you plenty of adventure with the group. \nWill you send out a detailed itinerary? \nYes\, we will send out a detailed plan of our day-to-day activities. But on a trip like this it is good to know weather controls our days and weather can impact what we do in a day. This is part of working in the mountains\, you never know what the day will bring. \nWhat about bears & wildlife? \nWe follow great bear safety as travelling in a group to start. There are small and big game on the trail. We share the trails with them. Porcupines and marmots have been a problem on previous trips. Make sure your supplies are in dry bags. It’s hard to store food in certain places so we do our best to stay bear safe. A gun will be carried by guides to provide safety. Food items will be stored away from camp when possible. There are two bear caches on the trail but not at every base. There will be one at Wokkpash Lake. Bear proof dry bags are available to rent! We can keep our extra days food in the Bear cache for when we get back from one destination to go to the other so we don’t have to carry all our food. \nAre dogs allowed? \nThere are no other dogs allowed on this trip. Only guides are allowed to bring their dogs. \nWhat if the plane can’t land due to the weather?  \nThis happens more often in the mountains as the weather can change fast. We pack an extra day of food for this kind of situation. One plane will be coming out of Muncho to Wokkpash\, and we can’t promise the trips will make it on the same day\, not itinerary can change very quickly. We suggest not booking your flights home on the same day and having a day or two in between flights if travelling home by plane. Trip insurance on your flight to location would be a great thing to add if travelling to the area by plane and looking at same day/night flights. \nIs there cell service? \nThere is no cell service on the trail. If you have a Satellite communication device I suggest bringing it. Once we get to the lodge you will be given a wifi password. There will be no phones aloud at dinner (scrolling). Every year I get shown that even when given wifi we all end up walking around the shore enjoying each other without staring into a phone. It’s a lost art in this world today. \nDo you have to tip the guides?  \nThe success of each trip depends on our excellent staff. It’s great to know before you go\, when it comes to fire bans. Some areas on the trail we won’t be having fires no matter what the ban’s current situation is. \nIs liquor allowed?  \nYes\, but not supplied. \nWhere do we go to the bathroom? \nYou’ll be required to create catholes. Catholes should be dug at least 200 feet (60M) from water sources\, walking trails\, or campsites. Always use the buddy system when adventuring away from camp. Carry bear spray. DESCRIPTION:You come to love it; the blisters and the bruises\, legs shaking under the weight of your pack. When bad weather strikes\, and you are tired and soaked and wondering why you chose to put yourself through this. But you love it; because through it all and at the end of it all you are stronger\, tougher and taller and just stretched the boundary of what you think you can and cannot do\, that much wider. \nThe Muskwa Kechika is a vast wilderness area comprised of 6.4 million hectares filled with immense boreal forests\, unnamed mountain peaks and fast-moving rivers\, all of which extend for hundreds of kilometres in any direction. Join us as us Wild Women head deep into the heart of the wilds on a 7-backpacking trip. \nThe trip will begin at the MacDonald Valley Trailhead at kilometre 632 of the Alaska Highway in Stone Mountain Provincial Park and will take us through approximately 70 kilometres of wilderness to our final destination\, Wokkpash Lake. Once we arrive at Wokkpash Lake\, a couple of days will be enjoyed for fishing and exploring this remote wilderness lake. Ending the trip\, we will be shuttled out via floatplane from Wokkpash Lake into Muncho Lake. This flight through this remote part of the Rockies is a trip in itself. Once we arrive at the lake\, where we will venture off to Liard River Hot Springs to finish off the trip relaxing. With a one-night stay at the world-famous Muncho Lake Lodge. \nThis trip will test you\, challenge you and more importantly change you. Becoming completely self-sufficient\, relying on nothing but our own legs and what we can carry on our backs\, we women will complete a trek that instills a new sense of outlook on what we are capable of. As such\, a trip like this is taken very seriously by Northern Rockies Fitness and safety is of the utmost importance. Due to the nature of the trip\, distance to cover and type of terrain\, experience in hiking is an asset. \nA lengthy distance (approximately 60-70 kilometres) will be covered on foot and will require participants to carry a heavy pack with all of the equipment\, gear and food for a 7-day trip into the Rockies. Steep inclines will be encountered\, as well as river crossings on foot. While there are challenges that will be presented to participants; safety is of the utmost importance to Northern Rockies Fitness. \nTwo experienced guides will be present during the trip to provide support and knowledge.
