We recommend bringing a 2L hydration bladder along with a 1L water bottle for ease of carrying. Once at the lake\, we strongly advise filtering the water\, as it can sometimes appear discoloured due to weather conditions. River runoff may also affect clarity\, so carrying a water filter is essential for backcountry safety. \nWhere do we meet?Participants will gather at the Fort Nelson Visitor Centre at 10:00 AM on July 17\, 2026. \nAre campfires permitted every night?Campfire availability is contingent upon the current wildfire situation. It is crucial to be aware of any fire bans that may be in effect. In some areas along the trail\, campfires may not be allowed regardless of the ban status. \nWhat are the bathroom facilities?Participants will be responsible for creating catholes\, which must be dug at least 200 feet (60 meters) away from water sources\, trails\, and campsites. We encourage the buddy system when venturing away from camp and advise carrying bear spray. As a camp rule\, if you use the bathroom\, please return with a stick for the fire. An outhouse is available at Wokkpash Lake. \nHow many guides will be present? One experienced guide will accompany the group throughout the trip\, providing support and expertise. They will carry an In-Reach Satellite communication device for two-way messaging and emergency contact with helicopter support\, ensuring safety in the unlikely event of an emergency. \nCan we go on day hikes?Participants are required to remain with the group and are not permitted to embark on day hikes or other solo adventures. We prioritize group cohesion and visibility\, and any changes to this policy will be communicated by the guide. Rain days may allow for day hikes\, depending on weather conditions. \nWill a detailed itinerary be provided?Yes\, we will issue a detailed itinerary outlining our day-to-day activities. However\, please note that river levels and weather conditions can significantly impact our plans\, as flooding may occasionally render certain routes impassable. \nWhat should we know about bears and wildlife? We adhere to stringent bear safety protocols while travelling in groups. The trail is shared with various wildlife\, including both small and large game. Previous trips have encountered porcupines and marmots. Participants should store their supplies in dry bags\, as food storage can be challenging. Guides will carry protective measures\, including a firearm\, and food will be stored away from camp whenever possible. Bear caches are located along the trail\, including one at Wokkpash Lake.  \nAre dogs allowed on the trip?No pets\, including dogs\, are permitted on this trip. Only guides may bring their dogs. \nWhat if the plane cannot land due to weather conditions? The weather in mountainous regions can be unpredictable\, and flight cancellations may occur. We prepare for such scenarios by packing an extra day’s worth of food. Two planes will be scheduled to transport participants from Wokkpash Lake to Muncho Lake\, but we cannot guarantee both will operate on the same day. We recommend not booking return flights for the same day and allowing an additional day or two in case of delays. Consider securing trip insurance for your travel arrangements. \nIs there cell service on the trail? There is no cell service available while on the trail. If you possess a satellite communication device\, we encourage you to bring it along. Once we arrive at the lodge\, you will be provided with Wi-Fi access. Please note that phone use is discouraged during dinner to foster group interaction and enjoyment of the natural surroundings. \nCommunicationPeak Wyld Co utilizes satellite email systems for emergency communication\, specifically Inreach Garmin devices. \nLiability InsurancePeak Wyld Co holds liability insurance as mandated by the conditions of the Park Use Permit. Peak Wyld Co is not liable for any damage or complications that may occur with your vehicle during the trip. \nShould I tip the guide? \nWhile not mandatory\, tipping is appreciated for excellent service. Our guides work hard to ensure a successful trip\, and gratuities are a meaningful way to express your gratitude for their efforts. We do not specify a set amount\, allowing you to tip according to your satisfaction. \n\n\n\n RENTALS AVAILABLE\n \nLIGHTWEIGHT TENT (2 Person) – $50   \nJETBOIL + 1 Canister – $50  \n1 CANISTER OF FUEL – $10 \nHIKING POLES – $20 \nBACKPACKING CHAIR – $50 \nBEARSPRAY – $25 \nIf travelling by plane to Fort Nelson/Fort St. John\, you will need to rent a fuel canister and bear spray\, as these items can’t be put on a plane.  \n\n\n\n FEE & REFUND POLICY\n \nFee: $2000 + TAXES \nTo secure your spot\, we kindly request a non-refundable deposit of $500. If we cancel due to unforeseen circumstances or an act of God\, your payment will be credited to a future date. If the trip doesn’t reach the minimum number of participants\, you’ll receive a full refund. \nWe always do our best to reach our destination — but please be aware that weather and safety conditions in the backcountry can occasionally change our plans. That’s the nature of the north\, and we appreciate your understanding. \n\n\n\n FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS\n \nWho is this hike for? This hike is for experienced hikers with solid cardiovascular fitness. The 540m elevation gain and 6-hour timeframe make it more demanding than an average day hike. If you’re newer to hiking\, we’d recommend starting with Le Hudette Lakes (June 20) and working up to this one. \nIs there a trail? No. Mount Stephenson is a backcountry route\, currently marked with orange flagging tape. Our guide has experience on this terrain and will lead navigation throughout the day. \nWhat’s the road access like? Access is via a decent dirt/gravel Forest Service Road. Driving directions and road notes will be sent to all registered participants before the event date. \nWhat if the weather turns? We operate in northern BC — we don’t run from clouds or light rain. If weather creates a genuine safety risk\, we will make that call early and communicate clearly. If Peak Wyld Co. cancels\, your payment is credited toward a future date. \nIs this suitable for beginners? Honestly\, no. This is rugged\, unmarked alpine terrain with significant elevation gain. That said\, we want to work with you — if you need to cancel 5 or more days before the trip\, we’ll issue a full credit toward a future Peak Wyld Co. adventure. \nCancellations made within 5 days of the event are not eligible for a credit. Spots are limited\, so the earlier you let us know\, the better. \nWhat if Peak Wyld Co. cancels? If we cancel due to unforeseen circumstances or an act of God\, your payment will be credited to a future date. If the trip doesn’t reach the minimum number of participants\, you’ll receive a full refund. \nWe always do our best to reach our destination — but please be aware that weather and safety conditions in the backcountry can occasionally change our plans. That’s the nature of the north\, and we appreciate your understanding. \nWho is this hike for? All-skill introduction to alpine hiking. \n \n \n \n BOOK NOW\n \nJune 20\, 2026 – 8:30 AM \nLe Hudette Lakes\nYou don’t have to go far to feel like you’ve left everything behind. Le Hudette Lakes sits tucked into the alpine just outside Chetwynd — two stunning mountain lakes\, open ridgelines\, and a wilderness that most people drive right past without ever knowing it’s there. We’re changing that. \nThis is a route\, not a groomed trail. It follows a seismic line up into the alpine\, gains 340m of elevation\, and rewards you with jaw-dropping views and the kind of quiet that only the backcountry can offer. Once you’re up there\, the doors open — ridge walks\, summit scrambles\, alpine tarns\, and all the wildflowers of a northern BC summer. \nThis guided hike is being offered in partnership with the Chetwynd Outdoor Society\, the local organization behind preserving and expanding outdoor access in this incredible region. Your participation directly supports trails in the area. \nWe’ll handle the navigation so you can soak in every second of it. \n\n\n TRIP AT A GLANCE\n \n  \n\nDate: June 20\, 2026\nDistance: 7.5 km return\nApproximate Time: 4 hours\nElevation Gain: 340m\nDifficulty: Moderate — suitable for hikers with a reasonable base fitness level\nAccess: Forest Service Road (suitable for most vehicles in good road conditions)\nLocation: Le Hudette Lakes\, ~82 km from Chetwynd\, BC\nPartner: Chetwynd Outdoor Society\nCommunity Contribution: $5 from every booking is donated to the Chetwynd Outdoor Society\n\n\n\n\n INCLUDED\n \n  \n\nExperienced guide for the full day\nRoute navigation on unmarked alpine terrain\nA summer day exploring the Chetwynd area\, BC\nBear spray mini course\nProper fossil handling\nPlant and ecosystem identification along the way\nPeak Wyld Co. sticker\nShared photo album from the day\nPre-trip communication with packing list and meeting details\nFirst aid kit\, emergency supplies\, and a satellite communication device carried by your guide\n$5 from every booking is donated to the Chetwynd Outdoor Society\n\n\n\n\n FEE & CANCELLATION POLICY\n \nFee & Booking \n$65.00 + GST. SUMMARY:Backpacking Gear Demystified: What You Need & Why It Matters
DESCRIPTION:JOIN HERE\n \nA two-hour webinar for women who want to pack smarter\, move lighter\, and feel genuinely confident in the backcountry. \nDate: Wed\, May 20 \nTime: 7 – 9 PM MST \nWhere: Zoom · $25 \n“Backpacking gear isn’t about having the best or the lightest — it’s about having the right tools to feel safe\, confident\, and present in the backcountry.” \n \n \nWhy backpacking matters\nThere is something that shifts in you when you carry everything you need on your back and walk into the wilderness. Backpacking strips things down to what is essential — and in doing so\, it has a way of reminding you what you are made of. It builds physical endurance\, mental resilience\, and a relationship with the natural world that day hikes simply can’t replicate. \nFor women especially\, stepping into the backcountry with confidence is powerful. It is a space where you set the pace\, make the decisions\, and discover what you are capable of when the trail gets hard. Whether you are chasing alpine views\, seeking solitude\, or building community around a campfire — backpacking opens doors that stay open for life. \nWhy gear is the foundation\nGear is not just equipment — it is the difference between a trip that breaks you down and one that builds you up. The wrong shelter in a rainstorm\, a sleeping pad that doesn’t insulate\, boots that weren’t tested before a long approach — these things don’t just make a trip uncomfortable\, they can compromise your safety and your confidence in ways that take time to recover from. \nUnderstanding your gear — what it does\, why you chose it\, and how it works together as a system — gives you something no amount of expensive equipment can buy: the ability to make good decisions in the field. That knowledge travels with you on every trip\, in every season\, for the rest of your backpacking life. \n \n \nWhy a webinar like this is worth your time\nMost gear advice online is overwhelming\, gear-brand sponsored\, or written for a general audience that doesn’t reflect your experience\, your body\, or where you actually hike. Two hours with a professional guide who has carried these systems through Northern BC conditions — and who can answer your actual questions in real time — is worth more than hours of scrolling through reviews and Reddit threads. \nA focused\, well-designed learning session like this one gives you a framework you’ll return to again and again. As your experience grows\, your gear evolves — and the way you think about what goes in your pack will evolve with it. This webinar is not a one-time fix. It is a starting point for a lifetime of better trips. \nWhat we’ll cover\nMost people approach gear as a list to check off. This webinar reframes it as decision-making — because what you carry and why shapes your entire experience on the trail. \nWe’ll walk through the Big 4 core systems (shelter\, sleep\, pack\, and food)\, the gear categories that round out a well-built kit\, the most common mistakes — and how to avoid them — and how to start building a gear list based on your experience level and goals. Sara will be showing her actual gear live during the session. \n \n \nWho this is for\nWhether you’re brand new to backpacking or you’ve done a few trips and want to refine your kit\, this webinar meets you where you are. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by gear choices — or wondered if you’re carrying too much — this is the night to tune in. \nWhat you’ll walk away with \nA simple gear checklist\, a PDF of the presentation\, and a clearer sense of how to evaluate every item in your pack — before your next trip and for every trip after. \nMeet your speaker\nSL \nSara Laing \nIGA Professional Interpretive Hiking Guide · ACMG Hiking Guide · Peak Wyld Co. \nSara brings years of experience guiding in the Northern Rockies to this conversation. She’s the kind of guide who thinks deeply about what’s in her pack and why — and she’s here to help you do the same. \nSara is a certified IGA 4-Season Professional Hiking Guide and ACMG Hiking Guide\, freshly rooted in Tumbler Ridge\, BC after years of guiding in the Canadian Rockies. She doesn’t just lead hikes — she opens people’s eyes to the world beneath their boots and above the treeline. Wildflowers\, geology\, ecosystems\, the quiet stories the land tells if you slow down enough to listen. She’s the kind of guide who turns a ridge walk into a full-on education — all woven into an experience that sticks with you long after your boots are off. \n \n JOIN HERE
