SUMMARY:Wapiti Lake
DESCRIPTION:Wapiti Lake Trail\n4-Day Backpacking Tour in Wapiti Lake Provincial Park \nTumbler Ridge\, BC \n\nBOOK NOW\n \n\n\n \nJoin us as we head into Wapiti Lake for this 4-day backpacking adventure making it to Wapiti Lake. There is a emergency hut at the cabin to keep our gear dry if it decides to rain on us. We will be making one camp along the way to Wapiti Lake and arriving at the lake the following day. We will be heading for a day hike on the third day (weather depending) and making the trek home in one day. \nThe trail is approximately 19 km one way and follows the north side of the Wapiti River and the shores of a few smaller lakes. The trail itself is breathtaking\, but not a cake walk in the bush. Experience in backpacking is recommended for this trail as the km’s on the trip will be some long ones. The trail is rated moderate to hard. \n\n \nIncluded:  \n4 – Day guided backpacking tour into Wapiti Lake Provincial Park. \n3 Nights sleeping under the stars. \n4 Days mountain-side. \nBear spray mini course. \nPlant identification. \nPrizes. \nPeak Wyld Co swag. \nKnot tying and survival skills. \nFirst aid kit\, emergency supplies\, and a communication device will be carried by guides. \n$5 From every booking goes towards the Northern Rockies Trails Society. \nShared photo album between everyone. \n1-Zoom Meeting for bag checking\, questions\, safety meeting\, and organizing carpool if needed. \n\n \nWhat do I pack on a trip like this? \n\nBACKPACKING PACKING LIST – CLICK HERE\n\n\n \nFEE & REFUND POLICY \nFee: $475 + (5%) GST = $498.75 \nRefund Policy: You will be required to pay a $250 non-refundable deposit to confirm your spot. Our feet taking us to places most never see. \n\n \n\nFREQUENTLY ASKED TRIP QUESTIONS\n\nHow is the water? No lack of water on this trip. A 2L bladder and 1 L size water bottles will be enough for carrying. The rivers can come up and turn the river brown and grey from runoff. Always safe to carry a filter when going into the backcountry. \nWhere do we meet? \nTumbler Ridge Visitor Centre – 8:00 AM – August 16\, 2024 \nDo we have fires every night? \nIt all depends on what the current situation is with wildfires. It’s great to know before you go\, when it comes to fire bans. Some areas on the trail we won’t be having fires no matter what the ban’s current situation is. \nIs liquor allowed?  \nYes\, but not supplied. \nWhere do we go to the bathroom? \nYou’ll be required to create catholes. Catholes should be dug at least 200 feet (60M) from water sources\, walking trails\, or campsites. Always use the buddy system when adventuring away from camp. Carry bear spray. The rule of the trip is if you go to the bathroom you come back with a stick for the fire. \nHow many guides will be there? \nTwo experienced guides will be present during the trip to provide support and knowledge. An In-Reach Satellite communication device will be carried which provides two-way messaging and contact to helicopter support in the unlikely event an emergency occurs\, and a local helicopter company will be aware of our whereabouts for the duration of the trip. \nWill you send out a detailed itinerary? \nYes\, we will send out a detailed plan of our day-to-day activities. But on a trip like this it is good to know weather can impact what we do in a day. This is the part of working in the mountains\, you never know what the day will bring. \nWhat about bears & wildlife? \nWe follow great bear safety as travelling in a group to start. There are small and big game on the trail. We share the trails with them. Make sure your supplies are in dry bags\, we will have the cabin to store our supplies once we get to the lake. It’s hard to store food in certain places so we do our best to stay bear safe. A gun will be carried by guides to provide safety. Food items will be stored away from camp when possible. Bear proof dry bags are available to rent! \nAre dogs allowed? \nThere are no other dogs allowed on this trip. Only guides are allowed to bring their dogs. \nIs there cell service? \nThere is no cell service on the trail. If you have a satellite communication device I suggest bringing it. \nDo you have to tip the guides?  \nThe success of each trip depends on our excellent staff. If you received great service on the trip we always recommend leaving a tip\, we don’t have a price range. Whatever you feel is best. Leaving a tip makes our guides feel valued and appreciated. Our tour guides are the reason these trips run and what not better way to thank them from a great trip! \nCommunication \nPeak Wyld Co carries satellite email systems for use in emergencies. Inreach Garmin. \nLiability Insurance \nPeak Wyld Co carries liability insurance\, as required by the conditions of the Park Use Permit. \nWhere can I find the most up-to-date COVID-19 information and travel requirements?  \nhttps://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/home \n\n\n \nTRANSPORTATION AND HOTELS \nTravel costs to reach the trailhead are the responsibility of the participant. Transportation will not be provided to the trailhead by Peak Wyld Co\, but in an initiative to reduce congestion at the trailhead parking area\, we will help organize carpooling during our backpack preparation night (zoom meeting). If carpooling with someone I suggest $100 to split the gas! \nHere are a few options for participants who want to fly to the location. \n1. Folks can fly to Fort St. John and obtain ground transportation with Peak Wyld Co from there with travels. Please contact us about this topic if you would like to discuss this option before booking. \nHOTELS TO STAY AT IN TUMBLER RIDGE\, BC \nTREND MOUNTAIN HOTEL & CONFERENCE CENTRE \nLOCAL AIR BNB AVAILABLE \n

As such\, a trip like this istaken very seriously by Northern Rockies Fitness and safety is of the utmostimportance. \nA distance (approximately 10-20 kilometers) will be covered on foot and willrequire participants to carry a heavy pack with all of the equipment\, gearand food for a 4-day trip into the Rockies. Steep inclines will beencountered\, as well as river crossings on foot. While there are challengesthat will be presented to participants; safety is of the utmost importance toNorthern Rockies Fitness. \nTwo experienced guides will be present during the trip to provide support andknowledge. An In-Reach Satellite communication device will be carried whichprovides two-way messaging and contact to helicopter support in the unlikelyevent an emergency situation occurs\, and a local helicopter company will beaware of our where about for the duration of the trip. \nThe mentality of the group on a trip like this is to enjoy ourselves and thehike\, to embrace the challenges and more importantly work together as a groupwith no person left behind or feeling as they are slowing down the group.

SUMMARY:Wild Women Take The North\, July 19-27\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:WILD WOMEN TAKE THE NORTH\nJULY 19-27\, 2019\nOnce again\, I got a lot of remarks when telling others what I was up to next. You are heading into the mountains with 20 women? Who are strangers? And not a single guy is going? And I’d try to explain how it would be wicked and we’d all be singing Kumbaya by the fire each night\, and they wouldn’t believe me. I almost didn’t believe me. But off we went\, into some of the wildest\, toughest country with 50+lbs on our backs for 8 days of Type 2 fun. And we cursed those fucking mountains. We cursed that fucking buck brush. And those fucking nobs. And we were scared. Scared while our feet felt like they would come out from under us as white water rushed up to our hips and the weight of our packs felt like they would sink us into the rivers we crossed. Scared\, while trying to focus on breathing and on placing one foot in front of the other as we scaled down a tiny shale goat trail with a sheer drop awaiting the slightest misstep. But man\, oh man\, did we feel alive. We jumped in ice cold rivers. We weathered out storms and instead of cowering in our tents\, we’d throw on rain gear and stay out drinking by the fire. We caught fish in a lake. When we ran into a grizzly in the alpine\, we banded together and hollered and yelled\, telling him exactly where to go. We woke each morning\, not only with sore feet but with sore stomachs from laughing so much the night before. We bargained ichiban and coffee and mountain house. And some of us cried. Tears of frustration\, happiness and pain. And all of these women\, who hiked into those mountains as strangers\, flew out of the mountains as great friends. There is something unique to forming a friendship with someone while you conquer your fears\, haven’t showered in 8 days and are shitting in the woods. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is how Wild Women Take the North.
