SUMMARY:Tunnel Mtn - Tumbler Ridge - Backpacking
DESCRIPTION:Wyld — 3-Day Backcountry Traverse · July 31–Aug 2\, 2026\n\n\n\n \n\n Wyld \n\nItinerary\nDetails\nGallery\nFAQ\nBook Now\n\n\n \n\nWyld Backcountry  ·  Canadian Rockies  ·  July 31 – August 2\, 2026 \nGo Wyldin the Range\nA 3-day guided backcountry traverse through alpine meadows\, ancient forests\, glacial valleys — and a legendary tunnel through the mountain itself. \n \n Reserve Your Spot\n \n \n Scroll\n\n\n 22km\n Total Distance\n 3\n Days Wyld\n 1\n Mountain Tunnel\n 8\n Max Group Size\n \n\nThe Wyld Experience \nWhere the trail ends\,the Wyld begins\nFor three days you’ll carry everything you need into one of the most spectacular corners of the Canadian Rockies — a landscape of cathedral peaks\, wildflower-smothered ridgelines\, and glacial streams so clear you can count every stone on the bottom. \nThe Wyld route threads through old-growth forest\, climbs above treeline to a secret tunnel carved through solid rock by millennia of frost and water\, then descends through valley meadows blazing with summer colour. Small groups\, no crowds. Just the mountains and the people beside you. \n 🚗\n Trailhead Vehicle Info\n We encourage everyone to carpool and arrive with as few vehicles as possible — the less at the trailhead\, the better. Sara will be able to take a few participants from the Visitor Centre\, so reach out ahead of time to coordinate. Snowfencing is available from the Visitor Centre for those leaving vehicles there.\n \n\n \n\nWyld Itinerary \nThree Days. Three Worlds.\n \n \n Day 01\n Friday\, July 31 \nInto the Forest\nWe meet at the Visitor Centre for check-in\, bear spray orientation\, and a shuttle to the trailhead. From there we push into old-growth subalpine forest — ferns brushing our knees\, light filtering through canopies of spruce and fir. Day one is about finding your Wyld rhythm: weight on your back\, the smell of damp moss\, elevation rising steadily around you. Camp tonight beside a rushing glacial stream. \n 📍 7 km\n ↑ +620 m\n ⏱ 3–4 hrs\n 📷 Court Jacobs @court_the_original\n \n \n Day 02\n Saturday\, August 1 \nThe Tunnel Climb\nThe centrepiece of the Wyld traverse. A sustained climb through open alpine pushes you higher until the mountain reveals its secret: a natural tunnel worn through solid rock\, its arched opening framing an impossible panorama of snow-patched summits and deep green valleys below. \n “Step through the tunnel and the whole range opens up in front of you. One of those moments you don’t forget.” \nAfter the summit ridge\, descend into the next valley. Tonight’s camp sits under a sky with no light pollution for 100 kilometres in any direction. \n 📍 9 km\n ↑ +860 m\n ⏱ 6–7 hrs\n 📷 Antonio Sunción @AntonioSunción\n \n \n Day 03\n Sunday\, August 2 \nThe Trek Home\nThe final day carries you back through the heart of it all. A morning traverse of wildflower-covered ridgelines — the whole three-day route spread out behind you in one sweeping glance. Rocky meadows give way to subalpine switchbacks\, then forest\, then the shuttle back to the Visitor Centre. \nThe mountains will look the same as when you left. You won’t be. That’s Wyld. \n 📍 6 km\n ↓ –1\,480 m\n ⏱ 4–5 hrs\n 📷 Court Jacobs @court_the_original\n Book Now — Register Here\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \nPhotography by Court Jacobs @court_the_original  ·  Antonio Sunción @AntonioSunción \n\n \n\nTrip Details \nEverything you needto go Wyld\nTrip Specs\n\nDatesJuly 31 – August 2\, 2026\nDuration3 Days / 2 Nights\nTotal Distance~22 km\nDay 17 km · +620 m · 3–4 hrs\nDay 29 km · +860 m · 6–7 hrs\nDay 36 km · –1\,480 m · 4–5 hrs\nDifficultyModerate / Challenging\nMax Group Size8 participants\nMin Age18 years\n\nWhat’s Included\n\nWyld-certified expert guide throughout\nBear spray mini-course at the Visitor Centre\nCarpooling encouraged — Sara can take a few participants from the Visitor Centre\nSnowfencing available at the Visitor Centre for parked vehicles\nAll backcountry permits\nGuide carries full first aid kit\, emergency supplies & communication device\nWater filter for backcountry refills\nPre-trip gear consultation\n$5 per booking donated to Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society\nPeak Wyld Co. sticker — a small marker of something that felt anything but small\n\nFitness & Experience\n\nFitness levelModerate–High\nPrior backpacking exp.Recommended\nPack weight (typical)14–18 kg\nTerrainTrail\, Scree\, Alpine\, Rock Tunnel\n\nPricing & Payment\n\nPer person$275 CAD + GST\nNon-refundable deposit$150 CAD at booking\nBalance dueJuly 1\, 2026\nBookings after July 1Full payment required\nPay by credit cardBook Now ↗\nPay by e-transferjocelyn@peakwyldco.ca\n\nCancellation Policy\n\nDepositNon-refundable\nCancel 5+ days beforeFull refund of balance\nCancel 0–5 days beforeNo refund on balance\nBookings after July 1Full payment\, no refund\nTrip cancelled by WyldCredit to future date\nMin. participants not metFull refund incl. deposit\n\nMeeting Point\n\nLocationTumbler Ridge Visitor Centre\nAddress265 Southgate St\, Tumbler Ridge BC\nCheck-in9:00 AM\, July 31\nShuttle departs9:30 AM\nEstimated return~3:00 PM\, August 2\n\n\n \n\nFrequently Asked Questions \nGot questions? We’ve got answers.\n Where do we meet?\n At the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre at 9:00 AM on July 31st. SUMMARY:Bootski Lake - Tumbler Ridge - Day Hike
DESCRIPTION:BOOTSKI LAKE – TUMBLER RIDGE\, BC.\nA short push into the alpine — and then the world opens up. \nGuided Day Hike. Tumbler Ridge Adventures. \n\n\n\nBOOK NOW\n \nAug. 16\, 2026 – 8:00 AM\nBootski Lake\nBootski Lake is one of those trails that earns every step. You’ll climb through forest and open alpine terrain\, gaining nearly 600 metres of elevation before the ridge breaks open and reveals a stunning high alpine lake tucked beneath dramatic cliff walls — brilliant blue\, wildly remote\, and worth every bit of effort it took to get there. \nAt nearly 1\,800 metres above sea level\, this is big sky\, big views\, and big northern BC energy. Pack your lunch\, pack your layers\, and if you’re feeling bold — pack your floatie. Summer up here is short and sweet\, and there’s no better way to celebrate the summit than with your feet (or your whole self) in that glacially cold water. \nThis is a challenging trail — approximately 11.6 km return with sustained steep sections — and one of the most rewarding day hikes in the Tumbler Ridge UNESCO Global Geopark. Our guides will get you there safely and make sure you leave knowing a whole lot more about the landscape around you. \n\nTrip at a glance\n\n\nDate: August 16\, 2026 — 8:00 AM\nLocation: Bootski Lake\, ~80 km southeast of Tumbler Ridge\, BC\nDistance: 11.6 km return\nApproximate Time: 5–7 hours\nElevation Gain: 565 m\nDifficulty: Challenging — recommended for hikers with a solid base fitness level\nAccess: Forest Service Road (high clearance recommended)\nPartner: Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society\nCommunity Contribution: $5 from every booking is donated to the Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society\n\n\n\nIncluded\n\nExperienced guide for the full day\nRoute navigation on steep and rocky alpine terrain\nA summer day exploring the Bootski Lake area\, Tumbler Ridge\, BC\nBear spray mini course\nPlant and ecosystem identification along the way\nGeology and Geopark context shared on trail\nPeak Wyld Co. sticker\nShared photo album from the day\nPre-trip communication with packing list and meeting details\nFirst aid kit\, emergency supplies\, and a satellite communication device carried by your guide\n$5 from every booking is donated to the Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society\n\n\n\nFee & Cancellation Policy\n\nFee & Booking \n$65.00 + GST. A processing fee may apply for credit card payments. \nBook Online: Click the BOOK NOW button at the top of the page to reserve your spot by credit card. \nPay by E-Transfer: Prefer to pay by e-transfer? Send us a DM to get registered — we’ll collect a few details for our booking system and get you set up. Send transfers to jocelyn@peakwyldco.ca (auto-deposit enabled). \n\nCancellation Policy \nBecause outdoor adventures involve real upfront costs\, day hike bookings are non-refundable. That said\, we want to work with you — if you need to cancel 5 or more days before the trip\, we’ll issue a full credit toward a future Peak Wyld Co. adventure. \nCancellations made within 5 days of the event are not eligible for a credit. Spots are limited\, so the earlier you let us know\, the better. \nWhat if Peak Wyld Co. cancels? If we cancel due to unforeseen circumstances or an act of God\, your payment will be credited to a future date. If the Bootski Lake trip doesn’t reach the minimum number of participants\, you’ll receive a full refund. \nWe always do our best to reach our destination — but please be aware that weather\, road\, and safety conditions in the backcountry can occasionally change our plans. That’s the nature of the north\, and we appreciate your understanding. \n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\nWho is this hike for? This hike is suited for people who are reasonably active and comfortable hiking uphill on steep\, rocky terrain. Bootski Lake is not a beginner trail — this is a challenging backcountry route with significant elevation gain. Strong beginners are welcome with the understanding that this is rugged northern terrain and you should expect to work for that view. \nIs there signage on the trail? Partially. The lower section of the trail is flagged with orange flagging tape through the burned area. Above the treeline\, route-finding skills are required — but don’t worry\, that’s what your guide is there for. \nWhat’s the road like to get there? The access road is the Ojay Main Road\, a gravel Forest Service Road south of Tumbler Ridge. High clearance is recommended. We’ll send full driving directions and road notes before the event date. Please note this is a radio-controlled industrial road — your guide will provide details on radio use and protocol. \nWhat if the weather is bad? Light rain won’t cancel us — northern BC is wet sometimes\, and that’s part of it. Above treeline\, conditions can change fast\, so come prepared with layers and rain gear regardless of the forecast. If the weather creates a genuine safety concern\, we will notify you as early as possible and work with you on rebooking or a credit. \nIs bear spray mandatory? No\, but it is strongly recommended that everyone carry their own bear spray. We will conduct a bear spray mini course at the start of the day. This is active grizzly bear country — we take wildlife safety seriously. \nAre there washroom facilities on trail? Yes — there is an outhouse at Bootski Lake. On the trail up\, we follow cathole practices. Your guide will review Leave No Trace protocols at the start of the day. \nHow long is the drive to the trailhead? The trailhead is approximately 80 km southeast of Tumbler Ridge\, with a portion on gravel forest road. Budget roughly 1.5 hours of drive time from town. We meet at 8:00 AM and make our way out together — your guide will send a full logistics email ahead of the trip. \nCan I bring my dog? Dogs are not permitted on this guided tour. The terrain is steep and remote\, and we want to keep the group moving safely through grizzly habitat. \nWhat should I eat beforehand? Eat a solid breakfast before you go — this is a long day with a lot of elevation. Bring a full trail lunch\, snacks\, and a minimum of 2 litres of water. There is no reliable water source until you reach the lake. \nCan I swim in the lake? You absolutely can — pack your floatie if you’re feeling bold. The water is glacially cold and incredibly clear. A summer dip at nearly 1\,800 metres above sea level is an experience you won’t forget. \n\n\nWhat to pack\nPack \n\n20–30L daypack\nRain cover for daypack (optional but recommended)\n\nFootwear & Clothing \n\nSturdy\, broken-in hiking boots with ankle support\nMoisture-wicking hiking shirt — long sleeves recommended for sun protection\nHiking shorts or pants\nWaterproof rain jacket and pants\nWarm mid-layer (fleece or puffy)\nExtra socks\, gloves\, and a toque/buff — weather changes fast up here\nGaiters (optional\, great for creek crossings)\nChange of clothes waiting for you in the car\n\nFood & Water \n\n2–3L of water (hydration bladder + water bottle recommended)\nHigh-energy snacks\nPacked lunch\n\nSun & Bug Protection \n\nSunscreen\nSunglasses\nHat\nLip balm\nBug spray\n\nSafety & Essentials \n\nHeadlamp + extra batteries\nPersonal first aid kit\nEmergency shelter (emergency blanket)\nMatches and fire starter\nMulti-tool or knife\nToilet paper\nBear spray\nTrekking poles (optional but recommended\, especially on the descent)\n\n\nYour guide will carry the group’s core survival and safety equipment — but building the habit of carrying your own essentials is one of the best things you can do as a backcountry traveller. Extra clothing is one of the Ten Essentials for a reason: be prepared to be out longer than planned and for conditions to shift. \n\n\nFUN FACTS ABOUT BOOTSKI LAKE\n🏔 It sits at nearly 1\,800 metres above sea level — that’s higher than most peaks in eastern Canada. You’re genuinely up there. \n🌊 The lake is a high alpine tarn — meaning it was formed by glacial activity\, carved out over thousands of years by ice. That brilliant blue colour? That’s the real deal. \n❄️ Snow can show up any month of the year at this elevation. July hikers have reported snowpack near the lake. Always pack your layers. \n🐻 Grizzly bears are regulars in this area. Sow grizzlies with cubs have been spotted on the trail — a good reminder that you’re a guest in their home. \n🌿 The 2006 wildfire that burned through the lower slopes actually created incredible habitat diversity. What looks like a scarred hillside is buzzing with new growth\, wildflowers\, and wildlife. \n🦕 You’re hiking inside a UNESCO Global Geopark — one of only a handful in Canada. The rock walls surrounding the lake are hundreds of millions of years old. Dinosaurs roamed this region long before we did. \n🎒 The trail is maintained entirely by volunteers from the Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society. Every $5 donation from your booking goes directly back to keeping this trail accessible. \n📸 The ridge above the lake offers views of Mount Becker and its subpeak — one of the most dramatic vantage points in the southern Peace Region. \n🥶 That water is cold. Like\, really cold. But people swim in it anyway — and they always say it was worth it. \n\n\n\nDate: August 16\, 2026 — 8:00 AM\nLocation: Bootski Lake\, ~80 km southeast of Tumbler Ridge\, BC\nDistance: 11.6 km return\nApproximate Time: 5–7 hours\nElevation Gain: 565 m\nDifficulty: Challenging — recommended for hikers with a solid base fitness level\nAccess: Forest Service Road (high clearance recommended)\nPartner: Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society\nCommunity Contribution: $5 from every booking is donated to the Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society\n\n\nExperienced guide for the full day\nRoute navigation on steep and rocky alpine terrain\nA summer day exploring the Bootski Lake area\, Tumbler Ridge\, BC\nBear spray mini course\nPlant and ecosystem identification along the way\nGeology and Geopark context shared on trail\nPeak Wyld Co. sticker\nShared photo album from the day\nPre-trip communication with packing list and meeting details\nFirst aid kit\, emergency supplies\, and a satellite communication device carried by your guide\n$5 from every booking is donated to the Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society\n\n\nFee & Booking \n$65.00 + GST. \nPack \n\n20–30L daypack\nRain cover for daypack (optional but recommended)\n\nFootwear & Clothing \n\nSturdy\, broken-in hiking boots with ankle support\nMoisture-wicking hiking shirt — long sleeves recommended for sun protection\nHiking shorts or pants\nWaterproof rain jacket and pants\nWarm mid-layer (fleece or puffy)\nExtra socks\, gloves\, and a toque/buff — weather changes fast up here\nGaiters (optional\, great for creek crossings)\nChange of clothes waiting for you in the car\n\nFood & Water \n\n2–3L of water (hydration bladder + water bottle recommended)\nHigh-energy snacks\nPacked lunch\n\nSun & Bug Protection \n\nSunscreen\nSunglasses\nHat\nLip balm\nBug spray\n\nSafety & Essentials \n\nHeadlamp + extra batteries\nPersonal first aid kit\nEmergency shelter (emergency blanket)\nMatches and fire starter\nMulti-tool or knife\nToilet paper\nBear spray\nTrekking poles (optional but recommended\, especially on the descent)\n\n\nYour guide will carry the group’s core survival and safety equipment — but building the habit of carrying your own essentials is one of the best things you can do as a backcountry traveller. Extra clothing is one of the Ten Essentials for a reason: be prepared to be out longer than planned and for conditions to shift. \n🏔 It sits at nearly 1\,800 metres above sea level — that’s higher than most peaks in eastern Canada. \n\nBOOK NOW
