Itinerary for Summit Ridge Trail – June 22 – Please note that itineraries are approximate and may vary.

Date: June 22

Starting Point: Fort Nelson, BC

Destination: Summit Ridge Trailhead

Drive Time: Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes


8:30 AM – Departure from Fort Nelson

  • Gather your group and ensure everyone has the necessary gear for the hike. Don’t forget water, snacks, sunscreen, and a camera for the beautiful views ahead!
  • Leave Fort Nelson and enjoy the scenic drive to the trailhead.

10:00 AM – Arrive at Summit Ridge Trailhead

  • Park your vehicle and take a moment to enjoy the fresh air. Take a few minutes to prepare your gear and ensure everyone is ready for the hike.

10:15 AM – Begin the Hike

  • Start your ascent on the Summit Ridge Trail. The trail is known for its stunning views and diverse terrain. As you hike, take time to appreciate the surrounding wilderness, the sound of birds, and the rustle of leaves in the breeze.

11:30 AM – Enjoy Lunch and Snacks

  • Find a scenic spot along the trail to take a break and enjoy your packed lunch. This is a great opportunity to relax, recharge, and soak in the breathtaking views of the valley below. Share snacks and stories with your group while taking in the beauty of nature around you.

12:00 PM – Continue the Ascent

  • After your break, continue your hike. The trail may have some steep sections, but the exhilaration of reaching the summit will be worth it. Encourage each other along the way, and take breaks as needed to enjoy the scenery and catch your breath.

1:00 PM – Reach the Summit

  • Celebrate your achievement at the top! Take photos, admire the panoramic views, and enjoy the sense of accomplishment. This is the perfect time to reflect on the journey and appreciate the beauty of the summer solstice weekend.

1:30 PM – Begin the Descent

  • Start your way back down the trail. Take it slow, as the descent can be just as rewarding. Keep an eye out for wildlife and unique plants along the way.

3:00 PM – Arrive back at the Trailhead

  • Once you’ve returned to the trailhead, take a moment to stretch and celebrate your hike. Share your favorite moments with your group.

3:30 PM – Drive Back to Fort Nelson

  • Head back to Fort Nelson, reminiscing about the day’s adventure. Consider stopping at a local café or restaurant to enjoy a post-hike treat and review the day’s highlights. Don’t forget Tetsa River Cinnamon Buns! 

Tips for the Hike:

  • Wear comfortable hiking shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather.
  • Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  • Keep an eye on the time to ensure you descend before dark.
  • Respect wildlife and nature—leave no trace.

How to Pay and Book 

Total Amount Due: $43.20

A $5 donation will be made to support the trails we’ll be traveling on, benefiting the Northern Rockies Trails Society.

Cancellation Policy

If the trip is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, your credit will transfer to a future date. If the minimum number of participants isn’t met, you’ll receive a full refund.

All-day adventures are non-refundable; however, a full credit for future use can be issued if cancellations are made at least 5 days in advance. No credits will be provided for cancellations within 0-5 days of the event. We appreciate your understanding as spots are limited!

What do I pack? Our guides pack all safety supplies and protection. We always recommend having a change of layers in your bag and most important water and food. Here we have a list for you to reference for future hikes! It is never a bad idea to carry the 10 essentials. We do have bear spray for rent if you are wanting to carry bear spray.

Extra clothing is one of the 10 essentials. Weather can change quickly, and you may be out longer than planned. In every season, be prepared with additional waterproof layers, fleece jacket or warm layers, extra socks, gloves and toque and buff. Frequently Asked Questions

Where do we meet? Participants will meet at the Fort Nelson Visitor Centre.

How much water should I carry? It is recommended to pack 2 liters of water for the hike. Hydration bladders are particularly effective in the summer months. A water filter will be provided by your guide.

Are dogs allowed? Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the trail, except for the guide’s dog.

Is it a women-only hike? No, our hikes are inclusive, and everyone is welcome to join!

Is it beginner-friendly? Yes, the hike is suitable for beginners with some hiking experience. While the trail includes challenging sections, participants should be physically fit enough to navigate hills and walk comfortably with incline. Please note that the trail is rated as moderate to challenging due to its distance and elevation gain. Remeber though, we go at everyones pace. This is not a race, and trust me we love staring at the flowers too. 

Can children join in on the fun? Absolutely! We encourage family participation. The minimum age limit for participants is 10 years old.

How do we get to the location? We will coordinate a carpool, led by the guide, to the trailhead. If you hit Summit Lake you have gone too far. 

Where can I go to the bathroom? There is a restroom at the Visitors Centre and there is an outhouse right up from the trailhead to use before the hike. 

Is Peak Wyld Co responsible for my vehicle during the trip? No, participants are responsible for their own vehicles while driving to the trailhead. Peak Wyld Co is not liable for any damages incurred to vehicles while driving or parked at the trailhead.
