Frequently Asked Questions

Meeting Location

  • Where do we meet?
Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre at 10:00 AM.
Address: 265 Southgate St, Tumbler Ridge, BC V0C 2W0

Ski Rentals

  • Can I rent skis?
Yes! You can rent skis from your local Ski Club, which is a great way to support the community if you don’t have your own gear. The TR Visitor Centre also offers rentals, but they are on a first-come, first-served basis, and availability in your size isn’t guaranteed.

Trail Difficulty

  • Is it beginner-friendly?
Absolutely! While there are some challenging sections, the tour is suitable for beginners. You should be fit enough to walk up and down a few hills and maintain a comfortable pace for about three kilometres. The tour starts with a mini skills session to help you get gliding on your own in no time!

Family Participation

  • Can my child join in?
Yes, we welcome families! The minimum age for participants is 11.

Parking Information

  • Where do we park?
We will start at the campground right outside of Tumbler Ridge. We’ll do our best to take up minimal space. If you’re interested in carpooling from Tumbler Ridge, we can discuss that at the Visitor Centre.

Getting to the Trailhead

  • How do we get to the location?
We will carpool in a line with the guide leading the way to the trailhead from the Visitor Centre.

Tour Cancellation Due to Weather

  • Is the tour cancelled if it’s too cold?
If temperatures drop below -30 degrees Celsius (excluding wind chill), we will not hold the tour and can reschedule your booking to a future date.

Cancellation Policy

  • What is the cancellation policy?
Refund Policy: Due to the nature of outdoor adventures and upfront costs, all-day adventures are non-refundable. However, if you cancel at least a week in advance, we can issue a credit for the full amount to be used for a future adventure. No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations made within a week of the event. We strive to provide an amazing experience, but weather and safety restrictions may sometimes prevent us from reaching the summit or desired viewpoint.

Road Conditions

  • What if the roads are bad?
We’ll meet at the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre at 10:00 AM, giving everyone enough time to arrive safely. Please drive carefully, and make sure to have my number saved in your phone in case you can’t make it.

Restroom Facilities

  • Where can I use the bathroom?
There are plenty of places to stop for restroom breaks, but please note that there are no outhouses along the trail.
