What do I bring?

What to Bring

Everything you need for a fantastic day of rafting and delicious food is provided! Here’s what to bring along:

  • Sunscreen
  • Swimsuit
  • Non-cotton clothing (if possible)
  • Quick-dry tops
  • Shorts
  • An extra layer or a windproof jacket for cooler weather
 

The guide and driver will arrive at the Visitor Center by 8:30 AM. 

Guests will meet at the Smithers Visitor Center at 9:00 AM.

The guide will provide a day briefing and assist everyone with their gear. Guests can change on-site at the Visitor Center before heading to the river. They should leave their bags, including a change of clothes, in the transport van for later. Once dressed, they will board the travel van, leaving their personal vehicles at the Visitor Center. Our goal is to depart from the Visitor Center by 9:45 AM for the trip to the river.

SMITHERS TO TROUT CREEK 
 
August 1, September 13 + 20, 2026 

Class: 2-3 Canyon Sections with Technical Corners 

Duration: Approximately 6.5 hours on the river, including a lunch break and scheduled washroom/stretch breaks.

Schedule:

  • Departure from the Visitors Center:
    Guests will depart for Lunan Recreation Site, a brief 10-minute drive, where they will meet the guiding team.

  • Pre-River Preparation:
    Upon arrival, the guiding team will have the boats prepared and additional safety gear available for guests. The guide team will assist in fitting safety equipment and conduct a comprehensive safety briefing. Meanwhile, the driver will load lunch into the cooler.

  • River Adventure:
    Guests will embark on their river journey, enjoying the scenic canyon sections while guided by experienced professionals.

  • Conclusion of Trip:
    The day will conclude at Trout Creek Recreation Site, located approximately 25 minutes west of Smithers on Highway 16. Van drivers will have transported the truck and trailer to this location and will be on-site with the van and dry gear for guests.

  • Return to Visitors Center:
    After changing, guests will have the opportunity to relax while the guides load the boats and equipment. Once all guests are prepared, the van driver will transport everyone back to the Visitors Center, arriving around 4:30–5:00 PM.

TELKWA TO LUNAN ROAD 
 
July 18, August 15, September 12 + 19

Class: 2 Floaty Sections with a Class 3 Wave Duration: Approximately 5 hours on the river, including a lunch break and scheduled washroom/stretch breaks.

Schedule:

  • Departure from Visitors Center:
    Guests will travel approximately 20 minutes east of Smithers on Highway 16 to Telkwa/Coalmine Road, where they will meet the guiding team.

  • Pre-River Preparation:
    Upon arrival, the guide team will have the boats prepared and additional safety gear available for guests. Guests will meet with the guides to review safety equipment and fitting. Meanwhile, drivers will load lunch into the cooler. A comprehensive safety briefing will be conducted before embarking on the river.

  • River Adventure:
    Guests will enjoy a scenic float through class 2 sections, concluding with a thrilling class 3 wave.

  • Conclusion of Trip:
    The day will conclude at Lunan Recreation Site, located approximately 10 minutes east of Smithers on Highway 16. Van drivers will have transported the truck and trailer to this location and will be on-site with the van and dry gear for guests.

  • Return to Visitors Center:
    After changing, guests will have the opportunity to relax while the guides load the boats and equipment. Once all guests are prepared, the van driver will transport everyone back to the Visitors Center, arriving around 4:30 PM.
