Where the trail ends,
the Wyld begins

For three days you'll carry everything you need into one of the most spectacular corners of the Canadian Rockies — a landscape of cathedral peaks, wildflower-smothered ridgelines, and glacial streams so clear you can count every stone on the bottom.

The Wyld route threads through old-growth forest, climbs above treeline to a secret tunnel carved through solid rock by millennia of frost and water, then descends through valley meadows blazing with summer colour. Small groups, no crowds. Just the mountains and the people beside you.

Trailhead Vehicle Info
We encourage everyone to carpool and arrive with as few vehicles as possible — the less at the trailhead, the better. Sara will be able to take a few participants from the Visitor Centre, so reach out ahead of time to coordinate. Snowfencing is available from the Visitor Centre for those leaving vehicles there.

Into the Forest

We meet at the Visitor Centre for check-in, bear spray orientation, and a shuttle to the trailhead. From there we push into old-growth subalpine forest — ferns brushing our knees, light filtering through canopies of spruce and fir. Day one is about finding your Wyld rhythm: weight on your back, the smell of damp moss, elevation rising steadily around you. Camp tonight beside a rushing glacial stream.

The Tunnel Climb

The centrepiece of the Wyld traverse. A sustained climb through open alpine pushes you higher until the mountain reveals its secret: a natural tunnel worn through solid rock, its arched opening framing an impossible panorama of snow-patched summits and deep green valleys below.

"Step through the tunnel and the whole range opens up in front of you. One of those moments you don't forget."

After the summit ridge, descend into the next valley. Tonight's camp sits under a sky with no light pollution for 100 kilometres in any direction.

The Trek Home

The final day carries you back through the heart of it all. A morning traverse of wildflower-covered ridgelines — the whole three-day route spread out behind you in one sweeping glance. Rocky meadows give way to subalpine switchbacks, then forest, then the shuttle back to the Visitor Centre.

The mountains will look the same as when you left. You won't be. That's Wyld.

Got questions?
We've got answers.

Where do we meet?
At the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Centre at 9:00 AM on July 31st. Address: 265 Southgate St, Tumbler Ridge, BC V0C 2W0. We'll handle the shuttle to the trailhead from there.
How do we get to the trailhead?
We encourage everyone to carpool and keep vehicle numbers at the trailhead to a minimum — the less vehicles, the better. Sara will be able to take a few participants from the Visitor Centre, so get in touch ahead of time to arrange a ride. Snowfencing is available from the Visitor Centre for those leaving vehicles there.
How much water should I carry?
Pack a minimum of 2 litres to start each day. Your guide carries a water filter for refilling at streams and water sources along the route. Hydration bladders work especially well in summer heat.
Are dogs allowed?
Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on this trip — except for the guide's dog.
Is this trip beginner-friendly?
This trip is suitable for those with some hiking experience and a solid base level of fitness. The terrain includes challenging sections with elevation gain, and you should be comfortable carrying a loaded pack over multiple days. Rated moderate to challenging.
Can children join?
Participants must be 18 years of age or older to join this backpacking trip.
Is this a women-only trip?
No — our backpacking trips are inclusive and everyone is welcome to join!
What if weather or road conditions are bad?
We monitor conditions closely and will communicate any changes as early as possible. If the trip is cancelled due to acts of God or safety concerns, your payment will be credited to a future date. If minimum participants aren't met, you'll receive a full refund including your deposit.
Where can I go to the bathroom in the backcountry?
Facilities are available at the Visitor Centre before departure. In the backcountry, your guide will walk you through Leave No Trace waste practices — it's part of the experience and nothing to worry about.
Is Wyld responsible for my vehicle?
Participants are responsible for their own vehicles. Wyld is not liable for damages while driving or parked. We recommend carpooling where possible and using the Visitor Centre as your staging point, where snowfencing is available.
What should I pack?
We've put together a full backpacking packing list on our blog. Head to peakwyldco.ca/blog and look for "Backpacking List" for a complete breakdown. Your guide will also confirm any specific gear requirements closer to the trip date.
How do I pay?
Click Book Now to pay by credit card. To pay by e-transfer, send to jocelyn@peakwyldco.ca (auto-deposit enabled) and DM us to register. A $150 deposit is required to hold your spot, with the balance due July 1, 2026. Bookings made after July 1 require full payment of $275 CAD + GST at time of booking.
