International Women’s Day.

What a day to sit and think about the little girl I’m about to meet in just a few days. The tiny human who’s already changing everything. I’m growing a woman, and that thought alone is powerful.

My whole life I’ve chased hard things. From hockey rinks to jobs that were never meant for women, I’ve always found myself in places where people said women didn’t belong. But I never listened. I just worked harder. I learned early that grit, resilience, and heart matter more than anything.

And over the years, through this company, I’ve had the honour of guiding more than 1,000 women into the wyld. I’ve watched strangers become teammates, watched women push each other farther than they thought they could go, and share experiences that change you for life. Together we’ve climbed more mountains — physically and mentally — than most people ever will.

Now I get to raise a girl in the wyld places.

A girl who will know the mountains, the trails, the cold mornings, and the quiet strength that comes from being outside. A girl who learns that toughness and kindness can live in the same heart.

My goal isn’t just to raise a strong girl.
It’s to raise a whole one.

Tough but soft.
Kind but strong.
Strong but gentle.
Adventurous but safe.
Safe… yet a little dangerous in the best way.

A wilderness girl who chases everything she loves with pride, resilience, and the kind of strength that can’t be taught in a classroom.

Welcome to our Spring Schedule in the Northern Rockies! 🌿

We’ve been wanting to offer more opportunities for our community and the travellers coming through the Alaska Highway, and we’re excited to finally share what we’ve been working on. Our spring schedule goes live Sunday for bookings.

In June, we’re bringing back our Social Paddles, with transportation available for your kayaks and canoes. Don’t have one? No problem — rentals will be available so you can still join in on the fun.

Our hiking schedule is also officially released, with trips heading out to explore Stone Mountain Provincial Park and other beautiful areas in the Northern Rockies.

New this year, we’re adding a special Seniors Week walk, offered by donation, with all proceeds going to support both senior societies in town. It’s a small way we can celebrate the people who helped build the communities we love.

We hope to see you out there. These events are only possible because of community support, and we’re grateful for every person who joins us on the trail or on the water.

Well it’s official. 👏

We are officially operating in the community of @tourismsmithers — and this one feels special.

We first connected at a Northern BC conference, and it’s proof of how powerful it is to show up in the same room. Conversations turn into ideas. Ideas turn into partnerships. And partnerships turn into real experiences in beautiful places.

Now we’re collaborating in the stunning mountain town of Smithers, BC.

Even better? We’ve partnered with an incredible businesswoman we met on a trip to Wokkpash with Wild Women— a raft guide who runs rivers like a boss. This summer, we’re officially offering River Rafting in Smithers.

And because community matters to us, we’re also collaborating with a local food company that prioritizes supporting local producers — keeping dollars in the valley and flavour on your river side lunch. Experiences should feel good from start to finish. @riverside_kitchen

Join us for a night on the water learning all things SUP!
📍 Location: Charlie Lake, BC
🗓️ Date: July 8
🕕 Time: 6 PM - 8 PM

This course is meant for anyone who loves to stand-up paddleboard (SUP)! We’ll be following Paddle Canada’s curriculum to ensure you get all the information needed to enjoy the summer ahead.

We are thrilled to bring this course close to home! Having taken this course last spring, I was quickly reminded of how much there is to learn in every sport. We’ll have an experienced certified instructor joining us, and we can't wait for her to share her knowledge!

That’s what Heart of the McDonald is all about: a back-to-earth adventure in the stunning mountains of Stone Mountain Provincial Park that’ll feel like the best few days of your life.

From the moment you meet everyone at the Fort Nelson Visitor Centre, you can feel it — this isn’t just a trip, it’s an experience. You’ll strap on packs together, hike through valleys and over rolling ridges, and by the second day you’re sharing jokes and stories like old friends. The mountain air, the incredible views, and that sweet hot coffee around the fire each morning? It’s the reset you didn’t know you needed.

Talk about a memory. 🤍 Throwing it back to our first “successful” retreat.

What most people don’t know is that the year before was what some might call a “failure.” But it wasn’t. It was the stepping stone. It was me, a friend and her daughter, and my brother, and of course dozer always my right hand man. That was it. And then the following year… this happened.

In the North, it’s hard to truly explain the beauty and the vastness of this land. To build something from absolutely nothing — and have it reflect the wild, raw magic of the North — is something I’ll never take for granted.

This was our Toad River Retreat. I started this company alongside a dear friend who ran Stone Mountain Outfitters. For years, we built it together. I even learned about permits through them — because at the time, I didn’t even know those were a thing. We truly built this business from the ground up. From our boots up.

We hiked. We explored natural springs. We played games. We had theme nights. The food? From scratch. Local wild game. Big family-style meals after long days outside. From backcountry adventures to yoga in the sunshine — the energy was unmatched.

One day, I’d love to bring the Toad River retreats back. There’s a plan quietly forming.

That trip gave me the space to explore drainages I’d never been into and hike trails I’d always dreamed about. There were no rigid itineraries. Sometimes it was simply, “Let’s try this one.” And it worked.

The North holds endless places to explore and wildlife you’ll never forget. I’ll never forget sitting still with a group of 20 while stone sheep walked within 10 feet of us — calm, wild, and completely free.
