Its been a whirlwind to say the least. 💕 This week I've been taking a hiking course in Canmore

I’m tired, anxious, and all of the above. I've had absolutely zero time for anything. Barely have anytime to even shower, let alone eat. They were right when they said prepare to have zero time for life. Up at 4 BC time to be back by 8 BC time, while adapting to Alberta times. I've missed my son's first day of pre-school and just miss my boy this week more than ever.

But my dad showed up with a cooler of beer today when I got in the car, and its like he knew I just needed a beer and a drive down the highway to unwind. I even shed a few tears of frustration and happiness. If i didn’t have my dad here I would be a disaster with the logistics of this week.

The hiking is absolutely beautiful and high elevation, I LOVE THE HIKES SO FAR and it has been such a breeze in that department (best thing I got going for me is bush smart), the bush part is my fortay not so much maps, apparently getting instructions from an outfitter saying the trail is east of the creek isn't good enough 😂 ! Its been amazing to get some views of the area, this area is busy! Like busy. Cars everywhere. Full on parking lots for trailheads. Overwhelming busy really. It makes me miss the north and home sick all in one.

This is my check in for everyone! We have the day hike exam tomorrow and then head out for a 3-day backpacking trip exam (my jam). I'm excited to hit the bush and disconnect and try to find the peace in the process. My dad told me no matter what the outcome Peak Wyld Co is still at home and to put NFG (No fucks given) on my hand for exam day and to keep the reminder to go with the flow. It's amazing that I literally lived in the bush all summer and just having someone judging you on the trail makes a difference in how I feel in the bush.

Cheers to knocking the rest of the week out of the park and staring at more big horns and the Canmore stars to finish this trip because this shirt ain't easy for a northerners to adapt!

Tomorrow the day is finally here. It’s school time.

I head to Canmore, AB. Trails I've never seen before and roads the last time I was on was around 10 years ago. Anxious is an understatement. The way my friend put it its like going on one of my trips as a client. No idea how the hiking is going to be like. New spaces. Out of my comfort zone. Never not hiked without a gun. Now to get tested on what I think I know. The list goes on and on about how different this area is compared to up North.

Pre-trip jitters. I get it now. The anxiety the stress, everything in between going on a big trip. I get to walk with hiking experts of Canada. The schooling, there is so much to know. I'm going into this with such an open mind. No idea what to expect? I'm excited to learn from experts in the industry and see a part of the Rockies I've never seen up close.

This trip is just hitting differently. The experience is going to be a big one for me and an eye-opener. Never have I done something like this before. So with that in mind, all I can do is give it my all and see how the outcome comes out!!

Opening day has a little special moment added to it this year. A quad ride with my bestie and little man. Wylder tried to call in an elk with a straw. Wylder even fell asleep for the night on the ride home, with a little transfer to bed he was tucked right in snug as a bug. He's obsessed with elk just like his dad, its the cutest thing to watch but makes me scared if I miss because now I will hear it from both of them 😂😂. That’s the thing about all hunters, even if we don’t harvest anything you still come home saying that was the perfect day with your favourite people, we even got treated to an orange and purple sunset that decided to say goodnight.

Celebrating a birthday in the best way possible! T

Celebrating a birthday in the best way possible! This was her first backpacking trip and she did it with 3 generations by her side. Her daughter and granddaughter joined her on this trip. She peaked that mountain with grace and strength. We played rock Jenga for a birthday game and finished the night with desert. The first trip I've had 3 generations join in, how neat is that?

Fun fact: On every float plane tour the oldest gets the front seat of the plane. Never let your age stop you from enjoying life and booking those adventures because you'll always get the best seat in the house in life.

If these hiking poles could talk.

They have been chewed by porcupines and chased off animals, they have an adapter for binos and spotting scope, paracord, and a butterfly sticker symbolizing a beautiful young girl - given to me from one of my great friends that I watch butterflies land on in the most beautiful spots.

They've survived lightning storms and floated away. Been saved in a river. Told my dog where to step for the last few years when the trail got tough. They've been waved in the air telling a bear to go away.

They've supported me through the highs of the mountains and the lowest of rivers. They've carried quarters of meat to supply my family for the winter. They've helped carry the weight of my son to some neat places.

Having hiking poles in the bush helps tremendously. Especially in tough terrain and water crossings. They take the weight off your back when you need it the most.

It's a great way to carry extra tools for when you need them. Having fun learning how to paracord on them is a bonus. We carry paracord, duct tape, electrical tape, and an adapter on ours. They’re great for making shelters, some tents now even just need two poles. A handy tool that having on the trail makes a difference. We always recommend showing up with poles!

Hope you enjoy our little trick to add important supplies to your hiking poles that might just save the day! They're more handy than you think and take the weight of the world when you need them the most.
