Flatbed & Quality Falls – FORT NELSON EVACUEES – Kid & Dog Friendly!!

Loading Events

MEET AT TUMBLER RIDGE VISITOR CENTRE AT 11:00 AM.

Take away the stress for the day and hit the trails with us in Tumbler Ridge. Both trails are very easy and kid friendly. We will have lunch at Flatbed Falls and once finished the hike on the way home we will stop at Quality Falls. Both are short, if you just want to attend one that is more than okay as well.

Flatbed Falls Hiking Route

  • 1-1.5 Hrs.
  • 2 KM Return
The rock shelf surrounding the falls is a popular picnic area, and the pool below offers an exciting swimming experience for the brave. Before reaching the falls, you’ll find a log picnic shelter and outhouses for your convenience.

Quality Falls Hiking Route

  • 1.5 Hours
  • 2.5km Return Distance

The trail to Quality Falls, being close to town, fairly short, relatively easy, and leading to an attractive waterfall with interesting geology makes it one of TRGG’s most visited sites.

The rocks at Quality Falls are in the Kaskapau Formation and are about 95 million years old, from the early part of the Late Cretaceous Period. These rocks are overlain by sandstones and shales of successively younger ages.  The Wapiti Formation is the youngest rock in the area at 75 million years old, and is exposed at the top of the Heritage Highway.
