Babcock Seeps – 7 KM Return
Cross-country skiing along a creek with frozen seeps emerging from the rocks offers a unique and picturesque experience. As you glide over the snow-covered terrain, the sound of your skis gently swishing against the surface creates a peaceful atmosphere, interrupted only by the occasional rustle of the surrounding trees or the distant call of wildlife.
The creek, frozen, meanders alongside and underneath you, its icy banks glistening in the sunlight. You can see patches of dark water peeking through the ice, hinting at the flowing water beneath. The frozen seeps, formed from water trickling down the rocky outcrops, create stunning ice formations that sparkle like crystals. These natural sculptures, combining water and rock, add an artistic touch to the serene landscape.
As you cross the creek, you might catch glimpses of small icicles hanging from the rocks above, creating a beautiful contrast against the snow. The air is crisp and invigorating, filled with the scent of spruce and and fresh snow. Overall, cross-country skiing in this setting offers not just a physical workout but also a chance to connect with nature, taking in the breathtaking beauty of winter’s quiet splendor.
