Welcome to the top of the world.

The Northern Rockies are one of the last truly wild stretches of North America — jagged peaks, turquoise alpine lakes, wandering caribou, and trails that see more wildlife than people. Whether you’re passing through on the Alaska Highway or coming up just to explore, we’ll get you on the ridges, around the lakes, and into the hot springs with a local who knows the land.

"Where the Alaska Highway Meets the Alpine"

The Alaska Highway

Built in 1942, the Alaska Highway slices right through our backyard. Between Fort Nelson and Watson Lake, it climbs through Stone Mountain Provincial Park, crosses Summit Pass — the highest point on the whole highway — and drops down into the Liard River valley. Bison, stone sheep, moose, and black bears are everyday sightings. Some of the best roadside views in Canada are here, and some of the best trailheads start right off the highway.

Liard River Hot Springs

Four hours up the highway sits the second-largest hot springs in Canada — a natural, boreal-forest pool tucked into a warm microclimate where orchids grow in the swamp and moose wade through the marsh. It’s the perfect reward after a day on the trail. We include Liard on many of our custom tours and overnight backpacking trips.
